Making of the digipak part 4

Using the feedback from my first digipak draft, I used the feedback I receoved from my band members to help me develop my ideas in order to create an even better digipak.

I began using Pics Art website this time to experiment with creating the digipak, this enabled me to create an album artwork using templates and helpful resources that made it easier for me rather than Adobe Photoshop.

First draft idea:

I tried using Pics art to create this album artwork cover, however I did'nt like the font or design so I used photoshop again to make another one.

Second draft idea:

In this second draft design I showed my group I used photoshop software and used our own image of the graffiti in the background, a pink boarder around the black and white picture of the band and the name of the band and album name.
My group clearly liked this second draft album cover. They gave me feedback as to what to change and add to complete the digipak.

Making of the digipak part 3

I have recorded my creating of the digipak which I did on Adobe Photoshop as it offers me a wider creative softwear so that I can carefully create this digipak using a wide range of tools. I first imported a range of images of the band from the most recent photoshoot.

First I used Adobe Lightroom to edit this image, I adjusted the enhancements and edited it into a black & white filter.

I then took this image and pasted it onto a black and pink design i created to give it an edgy border matching the colour scheme of black and contrasting hot pink.

I added a similar colour to this drawn look alike font and added mystery to the band by covering their faces.

I used the pen tool to add hand drawn symbols onto the picture which was inspired by the digipak designs from my group members.

Draft digipak design

I recorded my process of creating this first draft digipak design, here is the outcome.

I will pitch this to the rest of my group to see if it correlates with the social media themes and styles, as well as the music video.

However it is not fully complete, it gave my group a idea of the overall outcome and what can be improved.

I kept the colour scheme of black, hot pink and white inspired by my grafiti deisgn in the background. This will set the tone and style for the rest of the digipak

Making of the digipak part 2

Earlier in advanced I booked the photography studio to do a photoshoot of our band to use for one of our digipak designs and also to share these images on the social media platforms.

Here is some of the behind the scene images from the shoot:

We experimented with a black backdrop and a white one to see which compliments the bands image best. We all took turns shooting and placing the band for the shots. All these images were taken on an iPhone and just room lighting. However I think for my final product of the digipak I will book the studio for a longer session and use the soft box lightings, DSLR Canon 800d camera to create better quality photogarphs to use as the digipak design.

Here is the best results from this photoshoot that I will choose for the digipak:

Group feedback of album artwork designs

In this blog post we are shared our draft designs of the digipak for our band album artwork. We agreed on the band name as 'The Michelles' and the album name as 'Riot', all the digipak degins include similar colours, fonts and themes relating to our music video which these album artwork pictiures were taken from.

Here is Bashy's album artwork design:

Bashy's digipak design incorporates images taken from the shoot day of our music video. The lead singer is shown as the representative of this band as they band name is top left of the design, with the album name smaller on the bottom left. I really like the CD design and would include this in my digipak final design. The pink, black and white colours on the images are similar to the colours of the font. The font matches the grafiti in the photo and reinforces the rebellious, girl rock style.

Here is Tegan's album artwork:
The hand drawn graffic detail on Tegan's design really stands out. The symbols on the front cover are similar to the graffitied signs on our photos from the shoot. The band name font is written like dripping graffiti which I will use in our final draft of the digipak. The imagery used is taken from the shoot day. The black, white and pink colour and font scheme is all similar to our aesthetic of this girl band. I also like the hand drawn look on the back cover of the track list. However it needs to include the legal information

Here is Adrianna's digipak design
This album includes all the barcodes, legal information, record label tag and parental advisory which is necessary to our digipak design. The front cover uses different models to our actual band, but the background is taken from our shot day. I particularly like the main focus of graffiti and matching the font to this rebellious grafiti style.

Making of the digipak part 1

To contribute to the building of our group's campaign, I took the roll in making the digipak design for our band. In this post I collect a range of ideas, themes, colour schemes, fonts and symbolism to relate to our music video of our girl pop rock genre band. This mood board of styles and imagery will help me to meet the audiences expectations of the digipak so that it indicates immediately the genre, target audience and star image.

In this mood board I created on Google Slides, I followed similar colour schemes of dark, hot pink and black and white with the font colours and grafiti which is inspired from our pre production planning of the star image. The font will be replicated from the graffiti on the set of our music video, to do this I will use graffiti style writing font on the design of the name of the album/band name as well as incorporating girl power related symbolism to portray a fun feel to the digipak.
