For this task I learnt about the role of a A&R executive in order to help me set up a new band campaign.
I used this character sheet to describe the features, style, vibe and look of this artist which I came up with. I used ideas that I learnt from the lesson about how to distinguish an artist in order to help market them.
This is the Singer which I created. To go with the style I imagined, I found this unsigned singer on richer.signed.com
I matched this character to a singer called Andrada who released a pop genre song called 'I'll Be Lovin You'
She has not been signed and has released her song onto Soundcloud
A Campaign is a series of adverts that use various marketing techniques which share the same message and ideas to promote a business. Promotional campaigns are used to promote musicians, bands, album releases and more to the public in order to attract an audience appeal to keep the artist in the spotlight. There are a few ways that promotions can be used in a campaign such as the use of social media. Apps like instagram, youtube, facebook and more can advertise the upcoming release of a film or album release. One effective way is by doing collaborations with other businesses to release new products such as drinks. However, music campaigns are usually a series of elements incorporating a wide range of events. By advertising through social media it is a cheaper way to market products to the public quickly and efficiently. Everyone seems to use social media so it is the most reliable technique to do a promotional campaign.
Film Marketing Campaigns
In the film industry, studios like Warner Brother's and Belstone Pictures will use promotional campaigns to market their upcoming film release. They do this through billboards, Youtube trailers, social media posts, TV interviews, BTS videos, giveaways, synergies and toys, clothing, sponsored with food and drink company adverts, premiers and more. This range of activities and media is to build awareness and demand for the upcoming film release in order to create anticipation in the run up to the opening weekend of the premiere.
Music promotion Campaigns
In the music industry, before the release of a new album by an artist, the record label will invest lots of money into a campaign in order to build demand for the product and services it sells. This includes recorded music, tour tickets and merchandise. The label also will create money through streams of music on Youtube and radio stations as well as licensing the music for use in TV shows, films, video games and TV adverts. Music campaigns use a wide range of different elements of media such as:
Music videos
Album artworks
Tours
Live appearances
Meet & Greets
Appearances on TV, radio stations and with other artists...
Social media
Interviews with other websites and brands
Posters
Magazines and newspapers
